Reducing The Pain of Bursitis

By sawwatson at 2010-11-29 01:12:00
So what is bursitis? In short, bursitis is really the inflammation of the areas around your joints. When you move your joints throughout your body, there are certain fluid-filled sacs that cushion your body and joints every time you move it.

These sacs are meant not only to prevent pain from rubbing bone against bone, but they also serve as a cushion just in case you were to ever get into an accident.Face it: none of these options are pleasant, and while more extensive treatment may be necessary in the long run, there is something you can do in the meantime to help douse the fire: Wear a knee brace.

Fibromyalgia is a chronic syndrome, which is characterized by severe fatigue, pain and tenderness in diverse parts of the body and myriad other symptoms which are as non specific as they are numerous. Fibromyalgia can limit range of motion, desire to be mobile and create a great deal of stress because of the inability to function effectively or without pain.

Although there are more than 150 bursae throughout the body, bursitis only affects those joints used most frequently. Shoulders, elbows, hips, and knees are the most common targets, but the condition may also affect the heel and base of the foot surrounding the big toe as well.

A bursa is a fluid filled sac which is located between tissues like muscles, bones, skin and tendons. Plural form of bursa = bursae. These bursae provide cushioning for movement and pressure. While a healthy bursa creates a smooth gliding surface that can make movement normally painless, an inflamed bursa can feel quite different.

Medications include the administration of NSAID's, steroids and narcotic drugs to provide relief from the joint stiffness and pain. Corticosteroids are applied in controlled doses regulated by experienced practitioners that also reduce the joint inflammation along with the pain. Narcotic drugs help in reducing the pain but not the inflammation. Common pain relieving drugs those are used are aspirin, acetaminophen, ibuprofen, Tylenol, morphine etc.

A shoulder Impingement is a painful and lasting disorder that can be effectively be resolved with a professional program of rehabilitation. A shoulder Impingement physical therapy program is the best and most effective treatment to heal the rotator cuff fast and permanently, getting rid of pain and that fastidious, clicking sensation that accompanies every arm movement the sufferer does.

Our body has a cushion, which protects our bones, joints, tendons, and muscles. These cushions are called bursa. A bursa is a sac which is filled with fluid. The condition in which there is an inflammation of bursa is knows as bursitis. Bursitis is a very uncommon condition and not many people know the symptoms and causes or this condition.

Some common causes of bursitis are infections which are caused by conditions like rheumatoid arthritis and gout or excess use of joints, injuries and some conditions in which crystals are formed in the bursa.

The symptoms of bursitis are pain which increases on movement or pressure, swelling in the infected area, tenderness even if there is no movement and loss of movement in joints. If there is an infection which is the reason behind a patient suffering from bursitis, then the symptoms are fever and the area is red and feels warm.
