Acute Bronchitis Treatment

By sawwatson at 2010-11-24 00:39:02
To treat a case of acute bronchitis, one must take some steps in reducing the bronchitis symptoms. This is not a difficult task, especially if you are a healthy person, your only problem being bronchitis. Antibiotics are not one of the medication that work in case of bronchitis. Furthermore, if there is already a problem with your lungs, or with your heart, the bronchitis treatment will be a little more aggressive.

Acute bronchitis is one of the top 10 reasons for Americans to visit the doctor. Peak season is Fall and Winter. Symptoms include persistent cough with or without upper respiratory symptoms (sore throat, nasal congestion, headache, increased sputum production, and fever).

Acute bronchitis is very common among people with respiratory conditions. This type of bronchitis can occur in anyone, at any age. Acute bronchitis usually accompanies flu or cold and in most cases it doesn't need medical treatment. When acute bronchitis is caused by viruses, the illness can clear on itself within a few days.

Acute bronchitis is a common occurrence. The effects of acute bronchitis are many. However, of the two varieties of bronchitis, acute bronchitis or short-term bronchitis is easy to manage, control, and cure, given that it has been properly diagnosed.

Acute bronchitis is a disease of the respiratory system caused due to viral infection of the bronchial tree. In some cases, the infecting agent is a fungus. Usually, people mistake this condition to be common cold and underestimate the seriousness of it. This is the common reason why most people tend to ignore bronchitis.

It is usual for some doctors to prescribe antibiotics in some diseases even if they aren't necessary. Antibiotics have been prescribed for years in acute Bronchitis too, but they are not a solution for this disease.

There are two types of bronchitis: acute and chronic. Acute bronchitis exists for a short time only. Its common symptoms are coughing with yellow or green phlegm, wheezing, sore throat, fatigue, and fever. On the other hand, chronic bronchitis is a recurring type of bronchitis. Symptoms of chronic bronchitis include chronic coughing with phlegm, wheezing, bluish lips, shortness of breath, and swelling of ankles, legs, and feet.

Since cough might be very annoying, you must find ways to stop coughing. The very effective action is drinking plenty of fluids [non-caffeinated] like water and juices. Studies reveal that water is a best expectorant for easing your cough and it's thin like mucus.

If the mother is very healthy during pregnancy and the elderly make sure their immunity is always high, it's unlikely either will ever get bronchitis.

Symptoms start out similar to a common cold, but then get worse, rather than better. The stuffed up feeling in your nose goes to your chest and you suffer congestion of the lungs.

Bronchitis occurs when the lining of the tubes leading to the lungs gets inflamed and begins making too much mucus. When this happens, your body must cough to clear out the extra mucus. Acute bronchitis in otherwise healthy person may be caused by viruses or bacteria.

These organisms can also cause pneumonia. Airborne irritants - such as smoke, dust, chemical fumes - even cold weather may cause bronchitis. People with asthma may develop bronchitis more easily when they have a respiratory infection
